Kimberly Pope Adams, a lifelong Virginian who grew up in Dinwiddie, “Five Forks” area of Hopewell, is the Democratic nominee for the new House of Delegates District 82.
Having spent most of her childhood in a single-parent home, Adams graduated high school and went to college for her degree at Virginia Tech. Professionally, she has been serving as an accountant and auditor for the Commonwealth of Virginia explaining her deep-rooted connection and love to the traditions of the Tri-Cities.
“Kim is a mother whose community has seen hardships that were preventable. She’s ready to be a voice for a District that has long been ignored by Richmond. Kim will stand with farmers, local businesses, and community leaders to make our District thrive,” read a statement from the Kimberly Pope Adams campaign.
With her background, Adams wants to bring accountability to the House of Delegates focusing on the District of Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Prince George, and Surry.
As the race stands at less than 200 votes between the candidates, Adams campaign believes that the 82nd House race is too close to call.
“This race is tight, and it’s important for the health of our democracy and the confidence of the voters that every single vote is counted before a winner is declared. While the campaign awaits the final results, Pope Adams is spending time with family, friends, and supporters, celebrating the campaign run,” said Adams team spokesperson. “This campaign is, and always has been, about building a future for Petersburg, Dinwiddie County, Surry County, and Prince George County where no one is left behind. No matter where you live, how much money you have, or what party you’re a member of, your freedoms are protected, your family is safe, and you have a real shot at success. We are confident that when all the votes are counted, that message will have us out on top.”
The advocate for quality public education, teacher pay and adequate funding of K-12 schools, whose career has been committed to rooting out government waste and abuse says she is running for Delegate to be a voice for a district that has long been ignored by Richmond.
As she pledges to keeping communities safe, increasing educational opportunities, protecting women’s reproductive rights, pursuing solutions to food insecurity and increasing economic development, Adams is dedicated to serving with transparency, accountability, and good governance for all Virginians.
